“Admirable Character Quality” Observation #1

I noticed a quality in my older brother a few weeks ago that I really admire. We were visiting Northpark Mall in Dallas, TX on a Saturday, and in a place full of busy people, each with their own story, there’s a lot to take in. One thing that really stuck out to me though, was the way my brother led us through the MANY people shopping and walking around the mall. It was cool to feel him lead me without using a word. Sure, we weren’t there to find anything in particular, just to window shop, but it was cool none the less to feel like I wasn’t the person who had to lead or call the shots. He was taking care of me… I could trust him. I noticed that when my brother walked beside me, I could always feel where he was leading me because of his body language. He walked with confidence and ease. He didn’t hesitate, yet never came across harsh, neither did the crowd seem to bother him one bit. It was easy to follow him. The feeling of walking beside my brother is similar to when dancing with a really great partner- an experience I often have when my other brother comes home to visit. My time at Northpark made me think of two things really:
First, I love the way it feels to be led like that- with confidence and poise, yet with so much care. I want to marry a man like that someday.
Secondly, I want to walk so closely with the Lord that I know where He’s leading. I want to know Him so well that I easily and joyfully follow His loving lead.
If my brother can make me feel that way by the way he has learned to lead, I can only imagine how much greater I could follow Jesus Himself. I’m so thankful for little (and big) pieces of heaven and Christ today.
